Description
Where We’re Planted reflects the shared experience of growing in place—shaped by our surroundings, our communities, and one another. The two figures stand connected through a central sunflower, a symbol of growth, resilience, and common ground. Though distinct, they are rooted together, representing how individual stories contribute to a larger collective narrative. Originally created in response to the idea of “blooming where you’re planted,” this work speaks to the heart of community: people thriving not in isolation, but through shared space, culture, and care. The flowing lines and layered colors suggest movement and continuity, echoing the rhythms of daily life and the ways voices from different backgrounds intersect and coexist. In the context of Global Voices, Local Heart, this piece honors the universal desire for belonging while celebrating the beauty that emerges when diverse lives grow side by side, grounded in place yet connected beyond it.
NOTE: The artwork will remain on display in the Soundwaves Gallery through the end of the 2026 Season.
