Description
This piece calls back to my experiences of many road trips in the American South, through towns big and small, rest stops, festivals, Amish country, Elephant sanctuaries, and homes. This piece likens those trips to the voyages that immigrants from around the world took to find a new home in Nashville. Many of our ancestors arrived in North America on boats, while the parents of the next generation of Nashvillians may arrive via car, bus, or plane. It’s vitally important that we recognize how incredibly diverse and beautiful our city is now, and how it could be even more so in the future.
NOTE: The artwork will remain on display in the Soundwaves Gallery through the end of the 2026 Season. We will contact purchasers at the conclusion of the season (November/December 2026) to make arrangements for local pickup of your purchase.
