Description

Stars, We Are is a still life painted on glitter paper, its shifting surface evoking both cosmic vastness and intimate reflection. Star forms float across a luminous gradient field, casting shadows that suggest depth, movement, and time. The title states what science shows us: that we are recycled cosmic material. Every atom of oxygen in our lungs, carbon in our muscles, calcium in our bones, and iron in the blood running through our hearts was created inside a star before Earth existed. This realization is profoundly unifying. Across cultures, borders, and generations, we share the same elemental origins. In the context of Global Voices, Local Heart, the work connects universal science with personal awe, collapsing the distance between the cosmos and everyday life. While the stars belong to the universe, the wonder they inspire is felt locally—within our own bodies, communities, and sense of belonging.
