One World Soccer Ball is a painting of a glass soccer ball, celebrating global connection alongside local community. Soccer is played by approximately 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world’s most popular sport. Across cultures and borders, the game creates a shared language, one that brings people together through movement, teamwork, and play. The title refers both to soccer’s worldwide reach and to the spherical form of the ball, which mirrors the shape of the Earth. Unlike a traditional soccer ball, meant to be kicked and handled roughly, this one is made of glass. Its fragility suggests the care required to sustain what we share, echoing the responsibility we have toward the planet in the face of climate change and resource depletion. On a local level, the work reflects optimism about Nashville’s growing soccer community, linking global unity with a local heart.
