Description

This mixed-media collage centers on a large soccer ball surrounded by vibrant cloth and paper squares, creating a surface that feels both playful and archival. Embedded within the familiar geometry of the ball is one pentagon containing a painted image of a child in the uniform of a local school playing a saxophone, merging the language of sport with that of music, discipline, and creative expression. The contrast between motion and melody evokes improvisation—how identity is shaped by multiple rhythms at once. The patchwork construction recalls community, reuse, and memory, with each square acting as a fragment of lived experience. Together, the work reflects on childhood, talent, and possibility, proposing that play is not singular but layered, and that within every game exists a quieter, more personal story waiting to be discovered.
