I began conceptualizing this piece about a year ago while walking through the trails in Shelby Bottoms, a park in my neighborhood that I frequent. The wide-open meadows on a summer afternoon, a rare sight in a city with such a growth trajectory, is a scene to be treasured. To bring “Glory” to Music City is to celebrate every facet of this vibrant, ever-changing metropolis. “Landscape #1” celebrates the beauty and power behind our natural resources. It seeks to celebrate all who have inhabited this land before us and calls on us to preserve it for all to come after.
