The painting features a pheasant, whose species was imported from Asia in the 1700s. A young woman cradling the beautiful bird carries an expression with the weight of numerous emotions around the uncertainty of the future. As Nashville grows, it welcomes people of a variety of backgrounds and experiences. As the ring-necked pheasant was welcomed and nurtured years ago, the species flourished and has become part of the Tennessee landscape. And as such, we nurture the growth and birth of Nashville areas and welcome the people who newly call Nashville their home.
