Janelle Faiman
Film/Television, Music, Visual Art

I am a multidisciplinary artist currently creating a documentary about a famed New Orleans madam.

Periscope has taught and given me so many important tools and connected me to so many different people, that I can already see the growth of not only my art, but myself as an artist. If you’re ready to get serious about the work that’s required to elevate your art, idea, and/or business and be willing to learn, I would highly suggest Periscope.

Jenny Petite
Visual Art

I grew up in the foothills of Mt Ranier in the State of Washington and currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee. I attended Bellevue College for two years studying Voice and Music Theory, with an emphasis on classic and jazz. I earned an AA in Visual Communications with an Emphasis in Photography at Nashville State, an Undergraduate Photography Degree at Savannah College of Art and Design and am currently enrolled at Savannah College of Art and Design working towards double MFA in Fine Art Photography and Painting.

My work is personal and raw, and delves into the narrative to the story of my life with sheer honesty offset by my quirky sense of humor.

What I liked most about Periscope is the camaraderie between our small groups and Nina. I also like how Periscope’s sole purpose is to help us succeed as artists and that they offer so much help and encouragement to all of us. Artists tend to struggle with the business side of making a living with art, so much that many of us never really get off the ground. The business aspects can be overwhelming, each week we had people who specialized in different aspects of business. Everyone is helpful and wants you to succeed and wants to help you with the tools needed to do so. I would recommend Periscope to any artist trying work of Selfpromotion and wanting to get to the next level with their art.

Karen Matkosky
Multi-Disciplinary, Visual Art

I am a Nashville-based multidisciplinary artist dedicated to making meaningful art. I work within a variety of mediums & subject matter, specializing in portraiture, impressionism, and abstract expressionism.

Periscope 2021 has been a very eye-opening experience, especially during such isolated times. I highly recommend accepting the invitation if given the chance. The Arts & Business Council of Nashville and every single professional that speaks on behalf of their program is genuinely invested in making an impact in the best ways possible on you, your craft, and your well-being. The knowledge, lessons, and network gained are infinite. Whatever your weakness is, it will be challenged through this program and in the end, you will be more aware of your community, your passions, and what you need to do to elevate your dreams.

Lyndy Rutledge
Public Art/Creative Placemaking

I created Firefly Artisan Fair, an outdoor night market celebrating Nashville’s creative community, this event is October 23, 2021.

I would recommend Periscope to any artist who wants to take their art or business to the next level. The staff is super helpful and attentive, and the speakers were full of insightful knowledge and inspiration. I have had an incredible experience with Periscope and what I learned was invaluable!
