The Soundwaves Gallery: THE HE(ART) OF NASHVILLE is a celebration of place, people, stories, and community spirit at the core of Nashville’s identity as a uniquely creative city. Meet the artists!
Sarah Clinton- Sarah Clinton is a painter based in Nashville, TN working to capture the things that hold significance in our lives. Her artistic journey began after her daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder causing an intellectual disability and other challenges. In observing her daughter’s distinct perspective on the world, Sarah continually reframes her own outlook and applies this unique lens to her work.
Her paintings are regularly featured in juried art shows throughout Nashville and are held in private collections. Sarah’s Nashville-themed pieces were exhibited in the Flying Solo Exhibition at the Nashville airport in the Spring of 2024. Sarah is one of 12 artists who were selected to participate in the inaugural Artist in Residence Program in the historic downtown Nashville Arcade. She exhibits new work in Studio 60 every month during the downtown art crawl. Through her art, Sarah strives to inspire empathy, spark connections, and contribute to the beauty of her community.

Rhiannon Guppy
- Rhiannon Guppy is an abstract artist specializing in mixed-medium landscapes. Her creative journey began with studies in art, photography, and silversmithing, followed by a decade in design for a global greeting card company. After living on two continents over 13 years with her husband Steve and their children Bailey and Louis, she settled in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2020. The slower pace reignited her passion for painting, allowing her to explore various techniques and materials. This transition marked a new phase of artistic development, inspiring her current work: abstract landscapes blending texture, color, and emotion. Each piece reflects her evolving connection to nature and her surroundings, rooted in a deep love for creativity and expression.

The bold, bright colors evoke the energy and rhythm of the city, highlighting the neon signs, bustling streets, and lively spirit at the heart of Music City, immersing the viewer in the electric pulse of Nashville’s iconic nightlife.-
Roselle Rodriguez Vallejo
- Roselle Rodriguez Vallejo is an oil and acrylic artist living in Springfield, Tennessee. Roselle earned her master’s degree in Fine Arts: Painting from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in June 2024. Since moving to Tennessee, she has been inspired by the Culture of Nashville, Tennessee, especially Broadway and Downtown. Her work reflects the dynamic pulse of Broadway, a city where creativity and sound are alive in every corner. Roselle aims to capture the neon lights, the hum of guitars, and the history embedded in the streets of this captivating place. Her art celebrates the spirit of Broadway and its identity as “Music City,” showcasing the energy and stories that make it a legendary place.

This oil painting offers a captivating aerial view of Broadway in Nashville, seen from the top of one of the historic buildings in the Broadway, Rep. John Lewis Way intersection. The perspective captures the bustling energy of the iconic street, where the rhythmic flow of pedestrians (both tourists and residents) and traffic creates a dynamic scene. The vibrant colors of the cityscape engulfs the neon lights of Broadway’s bars and storefronts begin to glow. People walk along the sidewalk, their figures adding life and movement to the composition, while cars move through the lively street below. The painting conveys both the chaotic pulse and the charm that Nashville represents, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the city’s vibrant, ever-changing atmosphere.

This unique exhibition features 44 artworks by 44 local artists selected by the Nashville Soccer Club and the Arts & Business Council in collaboration with a three-person curatorial committee comprised of local arts leaders Michael J. McBride, Artist, Illustrator, Printmaker, Painter, and Instructor of Art at Tennessee State University; Amanda H. Hellman, Director of the Vanderbilt University Museum of Art; and Michael Mitchell (aka mikewindy), Artist and Art Education Coordinator at Tennessee State University.
The artwork will remain on display in the Soundwaves Gallery at GEODIS Park through the end of the Nashville SC 2025 Season.
