Position: Periscope RAD Mentor (Unpaid)
Location: Remote (in Tennessee, Rural TN preferred)
Commitment: April–September 2025 (Approximately 1 hour per month, flexible schedule)

Job Summary:

The Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville is seeking volunteer professionals to serve as mentors for the 2025 Periscope: Rural Artist Development (Periscope RAD) program. As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with a rural artist in the program, helping them apply entrepreneurial tools, refine business strategies, and create their Periscope RAD Pitch. Your mentorship will play a vital role in empowering artists to build sustainable careers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to a mentee by:
  • Meeting at least monthly (virtually or in-person, if possible) to discuss career goals, business practices, and entrepreneurial strategies.
  • Guiding the mentee through implementing tools learned in Periscope RAD to advance their creative practice.
  • Offering constructive feedback and accountability to help overcome roadblocks.
  • Assist mentees in creating their Periscope RAD Pitch, if they choose to participate, including helping refine and rehearse their pitch.
  • Set clear expectations for the mentorship, including communication preferences, confidentiality, and meeting schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in business, entrepreneurship, or arts-related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for fostering creativity and supporting artist development.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance in areas such as business planning, marketing, or financial management.
