Don’t Miss the World IP Day Panel on April 23: the Arts & Business Council is joining the Copyright Alliance and fellow Community Partners to co-host the FREE online panel “Sustaining and Empowering the Creative Community Through Copyright” in celebration of World IP Day.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organizes a global World IP Day (WIPD) celebration each year to help foster a greater understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) rights. This panel is keeping with the WIPO’s 2024 theme IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity. During the event panelists will discuss how creators can meet their goals today while helping to ensure that tomorrow’s creative community is sustained through job growth, a strong creative economy, and continued growth of the arts, all of which are perpetuated through copyright protections.

Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid will introduce the event; U.S. Copyright Office Associate Register of Copyrights and Director of Public Information and Education Miriam Lord will provide opening remarks; and Maribel Quezada Smith, Founder of BIPOC Podcast Creators and video/podcast producer, will moderate. Panelists include Eric Schwartz, Partner, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP (MSK) and Founding Director and Vice Chair, National Film Preservation Foundation; Mary Rasenberger, CEO, Authors Guild; Taura Stinson, Academy Award nominated songwriter, composer, producer and author; and Bijou Mgbojikwe, Senior Policy Counsel, Entertainment Software Association (ESA).
