The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is Duncan McDaniel!
Duncan McDaniel is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice combines light, color, found objects and traditional art-making techniques to create gallery pieces as well as public art. His goal is to promote an awareness of place using light, color, sculptural design elements, and playful interaction.
“Through these multiple techniques and venues, I incorporate art and design into an intrinsic experience of finding harmony and joy within each piece. There is an overarching directness and simplicity of the work that speaks to viewers from all walks of life.”
Since graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006, Duncan has been on a creative journey covering a wide range of techniques from oil painting, drawing, and site specific installations He explains that it is through these multiple avenues that he is continually searching for the better artist within himself.
This journey continues to lead him to new and uncharted creative territories. For now you can find him living and working in Nashville alongside his wife and two daughters.
