Nashville is widely known for its country music, but for many of us, our lives were impacted by other genres such as R&B, Neo-Soul, and Hip-Hop. Nija is a tribute to the 90’s Neo-Soul/R&B artists Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Neo-Soul has been the foundation for many artists and their works, including myself, and Nija represents the different facets of the music genre and the impact it had on the community. Growing up music was a large part of my childhood especially R&B/Neo-Soul. It was empowering, grounding, and eye opening.
