The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is Pam Austin!
Pam Austin is an abstract painter who works primarily with acrylic on canvas. Following a successful career in business, Pam returned to her childhood passion of creating art and began painting her journey through life.
Pam explains that she is intrigued by the revelation of the human spirit, and is motivated by a desire to unveil the elusive hidden truths of existence that we all must reckon with.
“In my work the unveiling occurs only when the illusion of control is released and the paint is able to freely dance on the canvas with ever-changing line, shape, texture and color. Although choices present themselves throughout the process – what to keep and what to let go – I am gently reminded that it is in releasing that true freedom is found.”
Pam attended Watkins College of Art & Design in Nashville, and has studied under several regional and nationally known artists. Throughout her art career, her work has been juried into national and regional exhibitions, and has earned numerous awards. Her paintings can be found in corporate and private collections throughout the world. A native Tennessean, Pam lives and works in the Nashville area.
