Invest in Local Artists Today!

In times of uncertainty and change, artists are the visionaries that create new ideas and opportunities for collaboration and human connection. Investing in artists is an investment in a better collective future for us all. At the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, investing in artists is central to our mission to Keep Nashville Creative.

This giving season, help local artists access the tools and resources they need to build more sustainable creative businesses in our communities. A donation to the Periscope Scholarship Fund is a meaningful investment in the artistic career and small business of a Nashville-area artist.

Periscope and the Periscope Scholarship Fund

Each year, 25 local artists, artisans, makers, and creative entrepreneurs of diverse artistic disciplines are selected to participate in the Periscope: Artist Entrepreneur Training program. Program participants undergo nine weeks of rigorous classroom instruction in essential business development skills such as pricing, marketing, and business planning, and are then paired with a mentor from the local business community. The program culminates in the Periscope Pitch & Artist Entrepreneur Showcase, where participants have the opportunity to present their creative business plans to a panel of local judges and over 200+ members of the local arts and business communities.

The Periscope program positively impacts not only the participating artists, but also the communities in which they live and work.

Since graduating in 2023, Periscope alum Martha Morales Purucker has opened a brick-and-mortar teaching studio and retail store, Nashville Glassworks. Of her experience, she shared:

“Periscope gave me a wide range of advantages. The program provided guidance and expertise from experienced artists, business professionals and mentors that understand artistic industry challenges. The opportunities provided by networking, developing skills and the resources changed my personal development, turning my artistic vision into a successful business.“

Help us raise $5,000 to keep Periscope accessible to the artists that need it!

To keep Periscope accessible to artists of all backgrounds, participants receive income-based tuition assistance from the Periscope Scholarship Fund. Each year program participants collectively receive approximately $5,000 in tuition assistance. Without these funds, more than half of the participating artists would be unable to access the impactful training, resources, and networking provided through the program. Please help us reach our $5,000 goal by sharing and donating today!
