From the rhythm of the music created here to the natural beauty of our parks and greenways, there is a spirit of connection, celebration, and resilience at the core of Nashville’s identity. This city is a dynamic place where history is created and preserved, where innovation thrives alongside tradition, and where Nashvillians—old and new—are the beating pulse of a thriving and changing city.
The Soundwaves Gallery: THE HE(ART) OF NASHVILLE is a celebration of place, people, stories, and community spirit at the core of Nashville’s identity as a uniquely creative city. Meet the artists!
Amy Krimsier Sterling
Amy Krimsier Sterling is a storyteller who creates visual art in a variety of mediums, capturing life’s many elements through printmaking, ceramics, paints and anything else she can get her hands on.
Much of Amy’s work is created in the public sphere, documenting fleeting moments in her sketchbooks or channeling daydreams into physical objects. Her art seeks to change frequencies, and is often focused on capturing natural phenomena.
As an arts educator in Nashville, Amy finds great joy in passing her own inspiration to others and seeks to help students see things in a way they had not before. Amy enjoys getting to know artists and various spaces in which to showcase the arts currently as Metro Parks Centennial Art Center Gallery manager.
Turtle of Wedgewood Houston Watercolor on paper:This painting explains the feeling of walking between the WeHo galleries depicted in the evening of an art crawl, taking it all in while strolling the rolling hills. The light is electric and the art magnetic. We are the circulatory system as artists and as viewers and collectors of art.
Jay Krenson
Lifelong Nashvillian, Jay Krenson’s award-winning art has been shown on the set of the ABC TV series Nashville, in Nashville galleries, national print advertisements, and in private collections world-wide. His work has been available in various stores, galleries and festivals.
Jay’s main area of focus has been creating collages. Using vibrant color paper, he cuts images and pastes them together. It can take several months to complete a piece from start to finish, from sketching the composition, to selecting the colors to cutting the pieces and pasting them together to create playful and imaginative scenes.
Jay hopes to create worlds in which one can become lost in the detail and color and have a sense of whimsy and joy in their own hearts.

Dalia Garcia
Dalia Garcia is an American painter and bilingual singer/songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. Born into a U.S. military family, Dalia’s upbringing took her across Europe, Central America and the U.S., including seven years in Madrid, Spain. A University of South Carolina graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Dalia’s artistic path has been unconventional. Her passions are music and art. For her they’re intertwined, one influencing the other.
The international singer says, “My paintings are often the result of observational moments—juxtapositions in everyday life that make me pause, reflect, and feel. I focus on the tranquil simplicity of points in time that might otherwise go unnoticed. My overall vision is to capture the energy of a moment.”
Sanctuary Acrylic: Every time I approach downtown, I marvel at the rapid evolution of the Nashville skyline. This piece features an elderly woman staring at the Nashville skyline. The ‘Batman Building’ is part of the scene reflected in her sunglasses. Nashville has changed a lot since I moved here, and I imagine that the subject in this piece is reminiscing on all the good and bad times that she has experienced over the years. People are the Heart of Nashville.
