John Cranshaw Named Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign

The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is John Cranshaw!

John is an abstract painter, sculptor and digital artist whose passion for the arts extends to photography and film. Over the years he has studied art history with an emphasis on the late 1800’s French Impressionists and American abstract artists, which have both been influences for his work.

“Art is a vision of an object or scene interpreted in a painting or sculpture as a Nuance of life.”
– John Cranshaw

Growing up in Miami, Florida John was involved in art, photography, and film at an early age. He went on to graduate from the University of Miami with a minor in Fine Art. After college he relocated to New Orleans, LA to attend Tulane University, and continued his artistic pursuits in that uniquely creative community.

John spent a period of time working in the healthcare industry before finally making art his main career when he accepted the Executive Director position with the Tennessee Art League. He then formed his own company Ajartist Media in 2013 which is still active today. In 2014 he tapped into his other media interests when he became involved in a film series called “Moving Art“. That same year Ajartist Media won first place in comedy with the film “24” at the 48-Hour Film Festival.

John owns a gallery in downtown Nashville within the Tennessee Art League, and sponsored a pop-up gallery in East Nashville called “Art Muz”. He has exhibited and sold his art in Venues in Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Miami, FL, and Cincinnati, OH, and has sold his work to private collectors around the world.
