The Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville (ABC) is thrilled to announce the expansion of its Fiscal Sponsorship program to support independent filmmakers and documentarians throughout Tennessee. Building on many years of successfully nurturing arts-based projects and organizations, ABC now welcomes filmmakers and documentarians under its wings, offering administrative and fundraising support for projects aligned with its mission.
ABC’s Fiscal Sponsorship program supports qualified arts projects, organizations, independent films, and documentary media projects providing essential support including the ability to receive tax-deductible donations and grants, thereby enhancing access to funding opportunities and fostering growth. Similar to a creative incubator, Fiscal Sponsorship initiative played a pivotal role in propelling several impactful Tennessee-based projects, including Creatives’ Day, Kennie Playhouse Theatre, Kindling Arts, Nashville Design Week, and Nashville Industry Fund, among many others.
As part of this expansion, eligible media projects for sponsorship must be independent or documentary endeavors, encompassing formats such as short or feature films, television or docuseries, web series, podcasts, and experimental and immersive media. Projects are required to be produced in Tennessee with at least 51% of production occurring within the state boundaries.
“Fiscally sponsored projects are able to solicit funding from sources previously unavailable to them, including government agencies, foundations, trusts, individuals, and philanthropic entities requiring IRS nonprofit status,” said Jonathan Harwell-Dye, Director of Programs at ABC. “We are excited to extend our support to the vibrant community of independent filmmakers and documentarians across Tennessee enabling them to bring their creative visions to life.”
ABC is excited to embark on this new chapter, embracing the dynamic landscape of Tennessee’s independent filmmaking and documentary community. With Fiscal Sponsorship, creative visions find a supportive home ensuring their impactful stories resonate far and wide.
