The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is Dina D’Argo!
Dina D’Argo is a painter whose loose, layered imagery lies somewhere between abstract and representational. Her work is an expression of the bond between humanity and nature, reflecting a deep reverence for the wild.
“My aim is not to re-create a realistic vision, but to touch on memories and emotions of time spent in nature and with the Earth’s creatures. I believe that is a spiritual connection to which we all subconsciously relate and find comfort and healing.”
Dina is a self-taught artist with a background in Fashion Design. Her sensitive images are stylized and imaginative with a flair for the dramatic. Originally from Southern California, she moved to the edge of the Hawaiian rainforest while recovering from a life-threatening horseback riding accident. This incident motivated her to immerse herself in her art, and the things that mattered most in her life.
Her love for horses and nature still intact, she moved to rural Tennessee where she continues to create in her studio. She explains that she strives to reach deeper; to paint more intuitively and with more spontaneity to better share the story of the everyday magic she finds in the world. A member of the Arts & Business Council’s inaugural class of Periscope: Rural Artist Development in 2022, she has been featured in Horses In Art Magazine, and is represented by Third & Wall Art Group. When not in the studio, Dina enjoys spending time with her animals, volunteering, yoga, and meditation.
