Barbara Bullard Named Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign

The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is Barbara Bullard.

Barbara is an award-winning watercolor artist living and working in the Nashville area, where she taught high school art for many years.

Her technique involves building multiple layers of colored wash to build a surface of depth and richness. She has a particular interest in painting glass objects, capturing both the transparency and color that is inherent in clear glass.

She explains, “My paintings are intended to capture moments in time, small slices of life that imply a larger story through the use of symbolic artifacts and personal imagery.”

Ms. Bullard earned her BS in Art Education/Fine Art, with Honors, from the University of Tennessee. She is active in many arts organizations, including the Tennessee Art League, The Nashville Artist Guild, and the Tennessee Watercolor Society, where she is a Signature member. She has been involved with the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts for many years and is currently serving her third term on their Board of Governors.

Ms. Bullard exhibits in juried shows at the local, regional, and national levels and has received numerous awards for drawing, painting, and mixed media. She was recently named a National Woman in the Arts by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
