Arts & Business Council staff and volunteers buzzed around Fort Houston, Nashville’s premier makerspace, putting the final touches on the decorations. Before the doors opened, musicians ran sound checks and pop-up performers practiced their dance moves. Painters set up their easels and actors rehearsed their sword-fighting routines. Throughout Nashville, ticket holders left their offices and braved the traffic (or relaxed in a rideshare), anticipating an evening like none other. They were all on their way to Nashville’s biggest celebration of the creative community, Arts Immersion!
Arts Immersion is a partnership between the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville and the Nashville Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. All proceeds from the event support the Arts & Business Council’s Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program which has provided nearly $4 million in free legal services to the Nashville arts & entertainment community since its inception. It’s a party for a great cause!

As six o’clock rolled around, a line formed at the front door. Artists and attorneys stood side-by-side excited about the surprises contained within. Business professionals and choreographers rubbed elbows with makers and musicians alike. At 6 p.m., the first act took the main stage and the crowd swarmed inside.
Along with behind-the-scenes access to a working makerspace, attendees perused silent action items including locally-sourced gift sets, airline tickets, live paintings, and one-of-a-kind experiences from businesses and artists throughout Nashville. It didn’t take long for close to 300 people to gather inside for the night’s festivities.

In the Fort Houston art gallery, artists Jessica Fife and A.M. Hassan (a member of POVA Artist Collective) live painted while pop-up performances by Suspended Gravity Circus, Found Movement Group, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and Sound Riot delighted the crowd. Outside, the main stage was lit with performances by Caligo, Peyton Rodeffer, S-Wrap, Alanna Royale, and Daisha McBride.
Turnip Green Creative Reuse offered attendees the chance to make art out of recycled materials and the Hi-Fi Media Booth allowed attendees to make instant GIF magic. Guests enjoyed hearty and delicious catering by The Mockingbird and some of the tastiest cookies in town provided by Tiff’s Treats. They washed it all down with drinks provided by Lipman.
It’s true! There’s no other event quite like Arts Immersion that so perfectly captures the diverse spirit of Nashville’s creative community while supporting one of Tennessee’s most valuable resources for artists.
