Description
This rhythmic assemblage was inspired by a local call for art focusing on the values of “community, cooperation, collaboration, and transformation.” My response reflected the south Nashville neighborhood of Woodbine and its unique identity as one of the city’s most diverse areas. It also presents a broader view of the city and shows how communities overlap and support each other. It consists of curved pieces of painted wood with open spaces created by their intersecting points of connection. The pieces of wood represent Nashville’s diverse neighborhoods. The open space is our limitless potential for expression and interaction. The eye symbolizes a vision formed by the imagination. The points where the wood pieces are joined support the overall structure and illustrate the idea that when we are united, we strengthen our city.
NOTE: The artwork will remain on display in the Soundwaves Gallery through the end of the 2024 Season. We will contact you at the conclusion of the season to make arrangements for pickup of your purchase. If you have any questions, contact us at info@abcnashville.org.
