The Arts & Business Council, Blackbird Media, and F&M Bank have teamed up to present the Artist of the Week on The Nashville Sign. This week’s featured artist is Jessica Eichman!
Jessica is a mixed-media painter who believes thoughtful abstract compositions invite creative thinking and more meaningful interactions with others. Her work is a balance of intention and chance. She says she allows a painting to develop; collaborating with the creative process rather than directing it.
“If there is an overarching theme to my work, then it is about letting go; letting go of expectations, rules, desire, and fear. It requires a leap of faith, a willingness to fail, and a belief that the simple act of mixing paint and slathering it onto a canvas will eventually turn into something that touches truth.”
A native of Natchez, Mississippi, Jessica earned degrees in Art and French before living and working in Paris, France; Corvallis, Oregon; and Boston, Massachusetts. Jessica’s paintings have been exhibited in the Huntsville Museum of Art, Nashville International Airport, and numerous private galleries, and have been featured in print and online.
Her work can be found in public and private collections across the country and internationally, including the permanent public art collection in the Nashville Historic Metro Courthouse and Hermitage Park in Nashville. She is represented by dk Contemporary Gallery in Marietta, Georgia.
