Meet the Host of Periscope Pitch + Artist Entrepreneur Showcase

NewsChannel 5’s Emmy-Nominated Producer & Reporter Tuwanda Coleman to Host Periscope Pitch

The Arts & Business Council is excited to announce Tuwanda Coleman will be hosting the 10th annual Periscope Pitch + Artist Entrepreneur Showcase at OZ Arts Nashville!

A native of Cadiz, Kentucky, Tuwanda began her career at NewsChannel 5 – 38 years ago, shortly after graduating from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Broadcasting. Tuwanda’s initial job with NewsChannel 5 was that of a studio camera operator. She was the station’s first female to hold that position, which she held for 10 years before being promoted to a producer and field reporter for Talk of the Town.

In addition to producing for Talk of the Town, Tuwanda also hosts The Plus Side of Nashville and the Talk of the Town spin-off show Taste of the Town for NewsChannel 5 Plus.

Tuwanda is actively involved in the community lending her to support to numerous boards and organizations including the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Advisory Board, the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences and the Oasis Center.

Some of Tuwanda’s honors include two Mid-South Regional Emmy nominations and she received a national honor when she was named the 2015 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals “Television Media Person of the Year”.

In her spare time, Tuwanda enjoys traveling with her husband, shopping, reading and loving on a dog whenever she sees one.
