My piece, Hummin’ Jar, speaks to the pride Nashville carries as a prominent city in the South. I have fond memories of Tennessee summers where my grandmother would put out her hummingbird feeders with sugar water. I would watch them come up so close to the windows and wonder at how fast their wings beat. The mason jar has often been used in my family, not only for canning vegetables from the garden, but also for drinking the sweetest tea you’ll find in the South. The Mason Jar is truly a symbol of the South and speaks to the heritage that makes up Nashville Voices.
