Neosho was an elder Native who lived in Green Hills with her dog Cosi. She is an ancient voice of Nashville, who holds the roots of our collective memory, and plants seeds of future corn to sustain the next generations. She is a voice of peace and stability, who reminds us of our deep connection to Mother Earth. Nashville Voices echoes the theme of Marla’s oil paintings “The Abundance Series,” which are large portraits of real Nashville women of diverse ages and ethnicities, posing in Nashville’s abundant nature, and surrounded by fruits or vegetables of the season. The series echoes the truth that though we may be different we are all connected, and Mother Earth holds us all in her loving green hands.
