Description
This piece expresses my musings on the unprecedented growth in Nashville, changing narratives about what it means to be a “Nashvillian”, and how identity is deeply rooted in our personal sense of place.
The title has a dual meaning: 1) the psychological definition, “modifying new information to fit into our schemas” (what we already know), and 2) the combining of disparate materials.
Representing the numerous glass and metal structures lining our skyline are a custom, kiln formed glass weaving stenciled with images of hardware hanging from salvaged stainless mesh and repurposed industrial parts.
